KIGALI Kevin Gameiro Atletico Madrid Jersey , Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda Meteorology Agency (RMA) on Thursday said the entire country will experience light to moderate rainfall with ordinary sunny breaks in the rainy season from September to December.


RMA predicted in its weather forecast for the period of September to end December, which is usually a transition period spanning the end of the dry season and the start of another rainy season.


Addressing reporters in capital city Kigali, John Ntaganda, director general of RMA, said that the rainy season in Rwanda will not be heavy to cause floods and will amount to 350mm to 450mm.


"We understand some countries in the region have started to experience floods as rains continue for the next months. In Rwanda we are expecting light to moderate rainfall across the country for the period of second week of September to the third week of December," he added.


The weather agency said that there are enhanced conditions of light to moderate rains over most parts of the country with the movement of Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) forming over the equatorial region.


According to RMA, there would be episodes of rain, partly clear and partly cloudy weather across central to western and northern region in the country.


Rwanda normally experiences two main rainy seasons which are from March to May and from September to December.


For the past years, Rwanda has experienced heavy rains and thunderstorms that caused landslides and floods across the country, most especially in Western Province and Northern Province.

FORTALEZA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Football's governing body FIFA has reiterated its warning to Brazil's 12 World Cup cities that they have no option but to stage their own fanfests.


Speaking during a visit to the northeastern city of Fortaleza, FIFA's secretary-general Jerome Valcke said cities were legally bound to stage the open-air fan events, which will provide live broadcasts of matches on giant screens and free entertainment.


"The cities who have not yet committed to have their own fanfest, it's a mistake, and they have to do it, there is no choice," Valcke said.


"There must be a fanfest in each of the 12 host cities in Brazil. That's a must."


Among cities to express doubt whether to stage fanfests are Recife and Rio de Janeiro.


The prefecture of Recife says it does not have the money to pay for the event while government officials in Rio are concerned at the prospect of violent protests at the public venues.


FIFA has agreed to pay for giant screens and security fencing with local prefectures and the private sector asked to cover other costs.


In March FIFA warned that cities were contractually bound to stage the fanfests and that they face legal action if they refused.
